What we repair

Four repairs, and nothing that cooks

Sub-Zero is refrigeration. We keep to it — which is why the van carries evaporator fans, defrost components, door gaskets and clear-ice parts instead of a bit of everything.

  1. 01

    Refrigerator Repair

Built-in, integrated and undercounter Sub-Zero refrigerators diagnosed and repaired in place.

    • Fresh food compartment sitting in the fifties while the freezer stays cold
    • Condenser running non-stop through the afternoon heat
    • Water collecting under the crisper drawers
    What we check
  2. 02

    Freezer Repair

Frost build-up, failed defrost cycles and temperature drift on Sub-Zero freezer columns and drawers.

    • Ice sheeting across the rear evaporator panel
    • Freezer drifting into the teens and food going soft
    • A drawer or basket frozen in place
    What we check
  3. 03

    Ice Maker Repair

Clear-ice modules, fill valves, drain pumps and hard-water scale on Sub-Zero ice makers.

    • Output down to a handful of cubes a day
    • Hollow, cloudy or fused cubes
    • White scale crusted around the mould
    What we check
  4. 04

    Wine Cooler Repair

Zone temperature, humidity and vibration faults on Sub-Zero wine storage, built-in or undercounter.

    • One zone several degrees off what the panel claims
    • Glass door fogging on the inside during monsoon weeks
    • Cabinet humming or resonating at night
    What we check

Gauges on the first visit. A sealed-system fault is measured before it is named, and named before anything is quoted.

Why owners call us back

The desert is hard on refrigeration, and we treat it that way

  • Sealed systems, not just parts

Gauges come off the van on the first visit. A compressor that will not pull down, a restricted drier or a slow leak gets measured and named — not swapped at, and not written off as "time for a new one".

  • We size the fault to the heat

A condenser that copes in March can run continuously in July and still hold temperature until it cannot. We read the numbers against the ambient in the room, so a marginal unit gets caught before it fails outright.

  • Built-ins come out and go back

Panel-ready columns and integrated undercounter units live inside cabinetry that was cut around them. Coming out and going back in without a mark on the stiles is part of the job, not an extra.

  • The price is agreed before we start

Diagnosis first, then the number, then your decision. If the honest answer is that the unit is not worth the repair, that gets said plainly while the panel is still off.

Every visit ends the same way: Sub-Zero equipment left running and watched through a full cycle before anyone packs up.

One call, start to finish

An ice maker that had stopped making ice

Phoenix water is hard enough to scale a clear-ice mould in a season. This one was down to a handful of cubes a day and the owner had been quoted a replacement unit.

Hands lifting a nearly empty ice storage bin out of an undercounter ice maker, fill tube and water fitting above it
On arrival Bin nearly empty, the mould crusted white and the fill valve throttling. Nothing wrong with the sealed system at all.
Hands sliding a bin full of clear cubes back into the ice maker drawer
Same visit Descaled, valve replaced, water line straightened and the bin sensor cleaned. Full bin again by the following afternoon.

Where we work

Four Phoenix neighbourhoods on the regular route

A call from any of these usually gets a slot inside the working day, because the van is already crossing them. Anywhere else in Phoenix: ring and ask — we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you.

Questions

Asked on the phone, most weeks

How soon can someone look at it?

The phone is answered around the clock and visits run 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, seven days. A call placed in the morning usually gets a slot that working day; if every window is gone we will say so on the phone rather than book you into a queue.

What does the visit cost?

A flat $89 service call covers the trip and a full diagnosis, and it is credited in full against the repair if you go ahead. The repair itself is quoted before any work starts, once the fault is actually known.

My refrigerator is fine but the freezer is warm. Is that one fault or two?

On a dual-refrigeration built-in they are two separate sealed systems, so one side can fail while the other behaves perfectly. On a single-system model a warm freezer with a cold fridge points at airflow or defrost instead — a blocked evaporator, a failed defrost heater or a fan that has stopped.

Do you work on integrated and panel-ready units?

Yes, and most of our Phoenix work is exactly that: columns behind cabinet fronts, undercounter drawers and wine storage built into a run. We plan the pull-out before we start, and the cabinetry goes back the way we found it.

Is it worth repairing a unit that is fifteen or twenty years old?

Often yes — the cabinets and compressors on this equipment outlast their controls, and a board, a fan motor or a defrost component is a fraction of a replacement. What changes the answer is a leak in a foamed-in evaporator, and we will tell you that straight rather than start the work.

The condenser never seems to stop running in summer. Is that normal?

Long runs are normal in June and July; never resting is not. Start with the airflow — a matted condenser, a blocked lower grille or a decorative panel over the intake is the usual cause in the desert. If the coil is clean and it still runs continuously, the charge or the compressor is worth measuring.

Reviews

What owners said once the panel was back on

Built-in Sub-Zero calls across Phoenix.

  • Our built-in gave up during a July stretch over 115 and the fresh food side was warm by lunchtime. The coils were furred with alley dust. Cleaned out, fan motor swapped, cold again that evening.

    Delfina C.Maryvale

  • The maker in our back casita quit and nobody noticed until family turned up for a weekend. Drain pump had failed and the bin sensor was gummed with scale. New pump, bin scrubbed, working that afternoon.

    Vidal G.Coronado

  • The cabinet hummed loudly enough to hear in the bedroom above it. Loose mounting feet and a resonating side panel, not the compressor another shop wanted to replace. Quiet now, though it took two visits.
